Early Life and Education

Keanu Reeves was born on September 2, 1964, in Beirut, Lebanon. His English mother, Patricia, was a dancer and costume designer, and his Hawaiian-born father, Samuel, was a geologist of Hawaiian, Irish, English, and Chinese descent. After his father left the family when Reeves was three, his mother raised him and his three sisters in Australia and later New York City.

Reeves struggled with dyslexia throughout his childhood. He excelled at playing hockey and hoped to play for Canada in the Olympics, but a hockey injury ended his aspirations. He briefly Reeves keanu motorcycles!
